The application for the H2 core network was approved last year, but OGE had of course been preparing behind the scenes for some time. These preparations included building a kind of training camp where our employees learn how to safely handle hydrogen. The H2 training centre located in Werne features all the technical plant and pipeline components found in the core network. It allows us to share relevant H2 knowledge in a very hands-on way. In future the training centre will also be available to other companies.
The input of our own employees from across different disciplines was extremely important for us, which is why we got them involved as early as the design stage. The central question to them was: What do you need to know and what do you want to try out in order to feel confident and be able to operate the hydrogen core network? The feedback received provided the basis for the design of the training centre.
The first training sessions with OGE colleagues took place recently, and we will officially inaugurate the facility with a small event on site in the summer.
